Chaplain Eva
EDD, BCC, MS, MA/MC, MA/CE

“My prayer is that the significance of this great classical image [the good shepherd] will one day be returned to its original power and splendor.”
Kenneth E. Bailey
Doctor Eva Bleeker — Chaplain Eva — is assistant professor of Chaplaincy and Pastoral Care and the Rev. Dr. Jan McCormack Endowed Chair of Chaplaincy and Pastoral Care. Chaplain Eva joined Denver Seminary in 2019, bringing a wealth of expertise and experience to her role. She holds an Ed.D. from Baylor University and is board-certified through the Association of Professional Chaplains. Additionally, she earned a Master of Science in Narrative Medicine from Columbia University and two Master of Arts degrees from Dallas Theological Seminary: one in Christian Education and the other in Media and Communication.
After graduating from seminary, Chaplain Eva completed a four-unit residency in Clinical Pastoral Education through Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas (BUMC). She then remained on the chaplaincy staff at BUMC for five years while also serving as the first female member of the pastoral staff at her church. This independent faith community, Skillman Bible Church, commissioned her to chaplaincy and became an APC endorsing body on her behalf. (Thanks, Skillman!) Then, upon moving to Northern Virginia in 2014, she focused providing spiritual care at a community hospital and on the ministry staff of a United Methodist church. A sought-after national presenter in the field of chaplaincy and pastoral care, Chaplain Eva is dedicated to equipping students and professionals with the skills necessary to provide compassionate, faith-integrated care.
You may find her relaxing with a good book (or cookbook) with her adorable pit bull mix, Ramsie Ruth, on her lap. Or exploring trails with her husband of nearly 25 years, Josh (the other Dr. Bleeker).
“Knowing a person is an endless task.”
